Lactation consultants are health care professionals who are knowledgeable, skilled and experienced in lactation and breastfeeding management.  Their primary focus is the provision of education, assistance and support to breastfeeding mothers and their children.

Lactation consultants function as members of the health care team to promote support and protects breastfeeding by:

• Empowering women to make informed infant feeding decisions
• Act as advocates for and with breastfeeding family
• Fostering family support for the breastfeeding mother
• Assisting women to learn the skills to successfully initiate and maintain lactation while overcoming obstacles to breastfeeding, thus enhancing maternal role satisfaction.

Parenting and Breastfeeding Services is a privately owned business that has been around over ten years.  We provide lactation support while you are in the hospital.  We have a warm line in which Breastfeeding Specialists are available to answer breastfeeding questions during normal business hours. 

We also have Board Certified Lactation Consultants available for private consultation.  Our store is located in Good Samaritan Hospital the proceeds of which fund our Breastfeeding and New Mom support groups.

We have classes to prepare you for Childbirth, Breastfeeding, Caring for your Baby, Infant-Child CPR, Infant-Child First Aid, Sibling adjustment, Infant Massage, New Dad Preparation and more. You don't need to deliver at Good Samaritan to attend our classes or support groups.
